Adding Markers for Both Knitting or Crochet

Use different colored markers. Or different colored yarn made into circles. I use Red ,white and blue when I doing something this. red is 1st, blue 2nd and white the 3rd marker. In your case you'd only need the red and white. Then you never have to remember which is # 1, or #2 and so on. Just remember they will appear just as you say it... red, white and blue.

When I knit a pattern that has many stitches to follow I use markers to indicate the start of each pattern, leaving them on the needle.  When I'm required to do many patterns, I use pieces of cut up straws as markers.  The bigger the straw the better.  They are cheap and easily replacable.

A knitting teacher I had once told us that when your knitting and make a mistake:  Once is a mistake,  twice is mistake, three times is a pattern.  I loved her theory. Thanks,  Darlene
