Mile-A-Minute Afghan Pattern- Crochet

Hi, There are many, many crochet patterns titled Mile-a-Minute.  Here are a couple! DebbieC Birmingham, Al.   

Materials: 12 ounces of two matching colors. Color 1 (CA) and Color 2 (CC).
18 ounces of a variegated yarn with both CA and CC in it.
Variegated abbreviation (CB)
Crochet Hook Size H (4 millimeters)
Yarn needle

GAUGE: In DC - 7 sts = 2"; 2 Row of shells = 1". ONE STRIP = 3" X
59" before joining. CHECK YOUR
GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given. 

Afghan measures approximately 43" X 60"  

FIRST STRIP (Make 7): With CA, ch 6. Sl st to beg ch to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 3; work 3 dc, ch 3 and 3 dc in ring. MARK THIS ROW WITH CONTRASTING COLOR THREAD AS RIGHT SIDE. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Skip first 3-dc shell; work 3 dc, ch 3 and 3 dc in next ch 3 sp between shells; skip next 3-dc shell; dc in sp between last dc of shell and next ch-3 turning ch. Ch 3, turn.

Rep Row 2 until 75 shells have been completed. At end of last Row, do not ch 3, turn. Fasten off.

 BORDER: With right side facing, attach CB to beg ring; ch 3 to count as 1 dc; work 2 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc in same ring -- POINT MADE AT END OF STRIP; now start working across long side of strip as follows: ch 1, skip next shell; work 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc in next sp formed by a dc OR a ch-3 turning ch; * now work 3 dc in each sp (formed by a dc or turning ch) across long side edge to within last sp on edge; work 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc in last sp, ch 1 skip next shell *; work 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc in next ch-3 sp between shells for point at opposite end of strip, ch 1, skip next shell; work 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc in next sp; rep from * to * once MORE. Sl st to top of beg ch-3 to join. Fasten off. 

SECOND STRIP (Make 6): Starting with CC work same as for first strip.

JOINING: Alternating strips so a CA strip is on each side, and having all shells point in the same direction, and holding strips wrong sides together, whipstitch across long sides through BACK LPS ONLY with CB. 

OUTER EDGE: With right side facing, attach CB to any corner sp, ch 1, 3 sc in sp; work sc in each st around including joining sts and working 3 sc in outer ch-2 sp and skipping joining at inside corners. Sl to beg sc to join. Fasten off.

V Stitch Mile-a-Minute
FINISHED SIZE: About 40" x 70".
 

MATERIALS:
52 oz. worsted yarn
~G hook or hook needed to obtain gauge  

GAUGE: 4 sc = 1"; rnds = 5" across.  

BASIC STITCHES:
Ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc, tr.  

SPECIAL STITCHES:
For V st, (dc, ch 2, dc) in st or ch sp. For joining sl st, insert hook in front lp, of next tr on this Panel and in front lp of corresponding tr on other Panel at same time, yo, pull through all lps on hook at same time. 

PANEL (make 8)  

Rnd 1: Ch 204, dc in sixth ch from hook (counts as first V st), *skip next 2 chs, V st (see Special Stitches) in next ch; repeat from * across to last 3 chs, skip next 2 chs, work 3 V sts in end ch; continuing on opposite side of ch, (skip next 2 chs, V st in next ch) across, ending with 2 V sts in same ch as first dc, join with sl St in third ch of first V st. (136 V sts made)

Rnd 2: Ch 5, dc in first ch sp (counts as first V st), V st in same ch sp as first V st, V st in each ch sp across to three V sts at end, work 2 V sts in next ch sp, V st in next ch sp, 2 V sts in next ch sp, V st in each ch sp across to last 2 ch sps, work 2 V sts in next ch sp, V st in last ch sp, join. (140 V sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, (dc, ch 3 for corner, dc) in first ch sp, *dc in each dc and 2 dc in each ch sp across next 67 V sts, dc in next dc, (dc, ch 3 for corner, dc) in next ch sp, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next ch 5p*, dc in next 2 dc, (dc, ch 3 for corner, dc) in next ch sp, dc in next dc; repeat between first and second ~, dc in next dc, join in top of ch 3. (4 sts worked in each V st, 4 ch-3 corners)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, skip first st, sc in next st, *(sc, hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in next corner ch sp, (sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr in next 2 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st) across to next corner ch sp, (sc, hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in corner ch sp, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next St, tr in next 2 sts, dc in next st, hdc in next st*, sc in next st; repeat between first and second * with last hdc in same st as joining sl st, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY
lay two Panels side-by-side with wrong sides of both pieces facing you and long edges touching.
~Working across long edges, place lp on hook, insert hook in front lp of second tr at corner on first Panel and in front 1p of corresponding tr on second Panel at same time, yo, pull through all lps on hook (first joining sl st made), *s1 st in front lp of each st on first Panel across to next 2 tr sts, work joining Sl st (see Special Stitches) 2 times; repeat from * across ending with joining sl st in only first tr at next corner; leave remaining sts un-worked. Fasten off.
